10 Tips on How to Succeed in All Aspects Of Our Lives

I’m an avid reader of newspaper, magazines, newsletter, etc and I’m always looking for articles related to motivation, inspiration, and success because I believe that if you feed your mind with positive thinking, not only makes the journey enjoyable, but also makes success possible. According to Investor’s Business Daily (www.investors.com), there are 10 traits that leaders and successful people in all walks of life have in common, and when combined, these traits can turn dreams into reality.

1. How you think is everything: Attitude towards life determines life’s attitude towards you. A Fortune 500 study found that 94 percent of all executives surveyed attributed their success more to attitude than any other factor. This is just an example that shows if you want to go far in life; a good attitude is a must.

2. Decide upon your true dreams and goals: I believe goals are extremely important in every aspect of our lives because they create a route for success. When we identify our goals, we identify what we want to accomplish and they provide a guide to our destination in life. Without goals, we let others determine where we’ll end up.

3. Take Action: We can all make big plans, have goals set, and strategies in place that provide a guide on how to accomplish success, but if you don’t act, then nothing is going to happen. I believe taking action is the most difficult thing, but without it, goals are just wishful thinking. You don’t have to be perfect, just make progress. If your method fails, try another one. This is part of the learning process.

4. Never Stop Learning: In this highly competitive world we live in today, where productivity is the driving factor of markets and economy, education plays a very critical role on your road to success and it definitely sets you apart from the rest. Go back to school, read books, get training, and acquire skills.

5. Be persistent and work hard: Never give up. Success is based on your ability to fail and continue trying. Depending on your attitude, you can view failure as an opportunity for growth or as a big obstacle.

6. Learn to analyze details & mistakes: Constantly evaluate your situation and actions to determine what areas you need improvement on; learn from your mistakes and think about what you can do to improve yourself and your situation.

7. Value your time: I believe that your most valuable asset is your time and only you decide how to invest it. Unless you value your time, you won’t do anything with it. It’s very important to ask yourself this question everyday: are the tasks on today’s agenda worthy of your life?

8. Don’t be afraid to innovate, be different: Develop your talents and skills and don’t worry about what other people say because they don’t know any better. Maximize your own potential, not someone else’s; following the herd is a sure way to mediocrity. Bill Gates, Warren Buffett, Mark Zuckerberg, they are all great innovators and they follow their own instincts and ideas.

9. Deal and communicate with people effectively: People make people successful. This is how the world works. Nobody is a self-sufficient individual and everything we know, we learned it from someone else, directly or indirectly. Taking the time to understand and motivate others yields great results and rewards as it allows you to build solid relationships and a strong network.

10. Be honest and dependable; take responsibility: If you don’t take responsibility for your actions, then you have no credibility and people will simply not trust you. Honesty and dependability are very important qualities that help you achieve your goals; they are part of your reputation. Do all you can do to the best of your ability. Know that at the end of the day you gave everything you had. If you’re sincere in your actions and pure of heart, your reputation will speak for itself.

These are some of my tips on how to move towards success as a young professional. What are your success tips?
