What Certifications to Consider after PMP???

Attaining PMP is the major milestone for every Project Manager. Maintaining it is another endeavor on its own which requires continuously updating your skills, experience and participating in the events with other Project Managers. So, how does an already PMP certified Project Manager further their skills set? What are the additional certifications that can successfully complement a PMP? There are several options available, depending on your area of work and interest.

1. Certified Scrum Master (CSM)

Agile [SCRUM] is a rapidly growing and increasingly efficient methodology that is being heavily utilized by numerous successful organizations. It is an iterative approach to software development and works very effectively if properly implemented and managed. That is where you, as a PM, need to possess the necessary skills to be the Scrum Master and successfully manage your Scrum Team. CSM designation is offered through various recognized institutions such as: Scrum Alliance and more recently, PMI which offers Agile-PMP. 2. ITIL (IT Infrastructure Library)

3. Six Sigma (Green and Black Belts)

As a Project Manager, or any associate within a company for that matter, it is important to understand the key concepts and terminology of Six Sigma. For those who are seriously interested in furthering their careers, we recommend pursuing the Six Sigma Green Belt.
