7 Must Read Books For Female Entrepreneurs

As a female entrepreneur, I tend to read a lot of books that focus on personality traits and qualities of successful female entrepreneurs. In our previous series we posted Top Books for Entrepreneurs and I thought it would only be appropriate to expand on that list and concentrate on the books that deal with the challenges that we, women, face whether we are starting our own companies, running multi-million corporations or simply kicking it as moms.

Following is a list of 7 books that every female entrepreneur should read (..at least one of them):

1. Leading From the Front: No-Excuse Leadership Tactics for Women by Courtney Lynch and Angie Morgan. This book focuses on developing the leader within you. The authors developed their leadership skills while in US Marine Corps. Leading your life rather than letting your life lead you is the underlying concept of this book.

2. The Boss of You: Everything a Woman Needs to Start, Run and Maintain Her Own Business by Emira Mears and Lauren Bacon. Everything you need to know as a female entrepreneur to start a small business and succeed is within this book. The Boss Of You helps you uncover and master such fundamentals as developing a wining mission statement, branding and marketing your company, and many other valuable concepts.

3. A Whole New Mind by Daniel Pink. Pink provides an insight into a new way of thinking, both as an individual and as a society. The book uncovers how the “left-brain” high-tech business are succeeding in today’ economy while traditionally businesses favor the “right-brain” people. In summary, this book provides an insightful and practical approach on how to set yourself apart from the rest of the crowd.

4. Designed For Success by Dondi Scumaci. The book uncovers the principles and unspoken rules for women to succeed in uncharted paths of corporate and entrepreneurial worlds. It will teach you how to make a difference and get ahead of competition.

5. The Girl’s Guide to Building a Million-Dollar Business by Susan Wilson Solovic. According to the author, women face ingrained challenges en route to success and wealth, ranging from fear of success to uneasiness with talking about money. The book is comprised of specific steps that lead to success overcoming any gender discrepancies.

6. The Anti 9-to-5 Guide: Practical Career Advice for Women Who Think Outside the Cube by Michelle Goodman. This book will make you want to get up and quit your cubicle job. Young female professionals between 25 – 35 who are striving to succeed on their own will find this practical guide indispensible.

7. On My Own Two Feet: A Modern Girl’s Guide to Personal Finance by Manisha Thakor and Sharon Kedar. Thakor and Kedar are financial planners who demonstrate how to make budget, invest in future, and provide practical guide to modern day female entrepreneurs manage their financial life.
